Orange

A while back I posted about frustration I had about a project not being released. I posted it with a blurred screenshot of a site that will not get released. I’ve re-read the terms of my contract with Orange and it’s clearly accepted in it that I have the right to produce static assets for portfolio matters. Here they are!

In between bad news from client #1 and client #2, There is a bit of bright news. Not all is bad for ekynoxe!

Through international DJ Shur-I-Kan, whith whom I work at Orange, I came to meet Steve Maud of Cloud Nine Media, who was at the time looking to create a new website to showcase his videos, while providing him with the ability to do it all himself from a CMS.

Frustration

There are many things that a designer/developer has to go through, with varying degrees of complexity and annoyance. We’ve all been there, all endured the pain of a browser not liking your latest CSS wizardry, servers crashing and a few late payments. It’s annoying, but except sometimes for this last one, we live!

However, for me, there is one thing that tops it all. (more…)

The art of keeping calm

I delivered last week the website for a big client, and after a few months of very tight schedules, technical explications on the solutions chosen and the limitations of web browsers, debates and frank disagreements, I can’t say it’s been a smooth ride.

However, most of the problems that come up along the way can boil down to some important points that I may not have highlighted enough as being critical for the delivery, and the client’s inability to have things done and agreed in a timely manner: (more…)

BadOps

The latest of ekynoxe’s design and developments: http://badops.zapee.com.

Badops is slowly arrive to maturity as an online tool to report bad behaving radio operators.
The brief for this project was that simple:

  • Total freedom on the design
  • Simplicity of the interface for only a few functions
  • ability to integrate later design and functionality requirements

In other words, a perfect project for me!
Especially on the design part, the total freedom allowed me to get down to something refreshing. A bit on the flashy side, I admit, but hey, the goal is to nail these bad-ops!

Work is still going on as requirements are coming in, but there is plenty of room to add more content on that website.
